Why Choose a Career in Accounting?
Progression
There are plenty of opportunities for progression at Hawsons. As a graduate you will start as an Audit Junior, where there is a clear progression path up to more senior roles in a number of different departments.
Below are some progression stories from previous graduates:
Dan Wood, Partner - Dan joined Hawsons as a graduate in 2012, before progressing to Audit Manager, before being promoted to Partner of the Doncaster office in 2021.
Jack Ware, Corporate Finance Director - Jack joined Hawsons as a graduate in 2011, before making the move to the Corporate Finance department in 2016, where he is now a Director.
James Robinson, Audit Director - James joined Hawsons as a graduate in 2012 and in 2023 was promoted to Audit Director.
Training & Exams
You will receive full training and support towards your ACA examinations, with the costs covered by Hawsons.
Tuition for the institute exams is provided externally by leading accountancy tutors who consistently achieve pass rates higher than the national average.
You will receive regular progress meetings with these tutors, and the firm's Partners.
Practical Experience
We ensure you will receive a wide range of practical experience with different clients, operating in various sectors and industries.
You will receive early responsibility, with staff being exposed to different areas of audit, giving a better understanding of the whole business being audited
There will be opportunities to experience different areas of the firm, including Corporate Finance, Business Services and Tax for example.
Throughout your training, you will work closely with senior colleagues and will learn from them. You will also gain experience working on-site at different client premises.
In-house courses
You will also receive ongoing support and development with internal and external courses, separate to your ACA studies.
